Speaking Truth to Power: Lessons in Administrative Courage
Thursday, November 30, 2023, 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

It takes courage to be a public servant these days, especially the courage to speak to truth power...or as our Australian colleagues say, to provide ‘frank and fearless’ advice to elected or appointed political officials. That’s a challenge under any circumstance, but when you factor in such things as the aborted Schedule F or its prospective reprise, the need for administrative courage goes up exponentially. That’s the focus of a Webinar sponsored by our colleagues from the Public Administration Review (SEA is among several co-sponsors).

Scheduled for Thursday, November 30 from 4:30 PM EST to 6:00 PM EST, it features Mr. Andrew Podger, former Commissioner of the Australian Public Service; the HON Sue Gordon, former US Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence; Ms. Zoë Rouwhorst, policy officer for the Netherlands Government; Dr. Donald F. Kettl, Professor Emeritus, University of Maryland (co-moderator) and HON Dr. Ronald Sanders (co-moderator), former Federal Salary Council Chair and retired SES.
