As all talent development organizations and their staff continue to evolve into a new normal, the federal government has released two high-level documents aimed at bringing talent development to the forefront: the President’s Management Agenda (PMA) and the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Strategic Plan Fiscal Years 2022–2026. The PMA provides a roadmap for management structures and goals across the departments. In a subset publication, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released their learning agenda. The PMA Learning Agenda includes three key areas: (1) refocusing on learning, (2) bridging silos across departments, and (3) encouraging research within, beyond, and in partnership with the government. Their strategic plan focuses on four key lines of effort: (1) how the government will become a model employer, (2) plans to transform OPM’s organization, (3) ideas to create a human-centered experience, and (4) innovative and data-driven solutions.
